An impetus for sustainable growth

Discover the Spanish strategy to project the country towards a more productive horizon, focused on digital transformation, ecological transition, social and territorial cohesion and without gender gaps.

The Plan in figures

In June 2020, the European Council approved the NextGenerationEU programme in response to the damage caused by the pandemic: EUR 806.9 billion in direct transfers and loans. In order to deploy this enormous economic stimulus, in Spain we designed a complete agenda of investments and reforms that have a direct impact on those productive sectors with the greatest capacity for transformation. A Plan of EUR 163 billion (including EUR 84 billion in loans) for the period 2021-2026.

How is the Plan structured?

The Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan is based on reforms and investments along four cross-cutting lines – environmental transition, digital transformation, territorial and social cohesion, and gender equality. It is structured into ten lever policies:From the urban agenda to the fight against depopulation and the development of agriculture, the modernisation of the tax system, the sustainability of pensions, the promotion of infrastructures, education, science or business modernisation, among other areas. These policies are broken down into 31 components or lines of action, coherently articulated in reforms and investments with greater capacity to transform our economic and social fabric.
