In these infrastructures, the focus has been on new technologies that guarantee more efficient management of resources and autonomous service management.
An example of this is the WWTP operating building in Sisante, where the automation system is located, from which the operation of the facilities can be controlled, process variables can be modified, operational data can be collected and even remotely operated on equipment in both Sisante and Pozoamargo and Casas de Benítez.
Thanks to this action, the water used is being poured into the receiving environment in an optimal state, complying with the discharge parameters established by the water regulations. Apart from this, it has been possible to eradicate the health problems that have arisen on the ground as a result of the poor treatment and to improve the environmental quality of the Júcar River.
In the area of wastewater treatment, Castilla-La Mancha has two clear problems: on the one hand, the entire population of the region does not have a purification system. On the other hand, also as a result of the previous one, Castilla-La Mancha and, by extension, Spain, does not comply with European regulations on waste water management, which is why it has received several calls for attention.
The three populations did not have an adequate purification system, which had significant environmental consequences, and they were even penalised. With the establishment of the EDARES group, the region's weaknesses in wastewater treatment are being addressed.
