The main objective of this action is to regenerate the degraded areas existing in Lower Andarax together with the promotion of green areas in order to create new spaces for citizens that favour the exploitation of the resources available and the underused spaces.
Similarly, among the objectives to be pursued by the action was to improve the urban sustainability parameters that influence the quality of life of the territory, improving the attractiveness and environmental value of the areas under intervention and improving the transitional spaces between residential and industrial areas.
Thanks to the regeneration and conservation of the plant species located in the delta, the creation of a new Paseo de la Ribera and the extension of the existing Paseo Maritimo to its connection with that Ribera, the extension of the bicycle lane of the promenade to its connection with the platform of the bridge that crosses the river along the Paseo de la Ribera del Río Andarax or the creation of differentiated zones of sports equipment, an urban area has been obtained that is regenerated, sustainable and of quality that, in addition, puts at the service of the citizens a space in which to develop healthy lifestyle habits linked to sport, as well as favouring the encounter between the people living in Bajo Arax.
The innovative nature of the action lies in the holistic approach that has been given to it. In this way, the combination of green areas, equipment and pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure in the regeneration of the Andarax River delta represents a holistic approach that addresses multiple aspects of urban development, including sustainability, mobility, ecology and quality of life and thus contributes to addressing the aforementioned challenges by promoting resilience and improving the quality of life in Lower Andarax.
