Digital education in schools
Provision of the necessary infrastructure and equipment for all Galician students to have access to a digital educational environment
The aim of the operation is to provide Galicia ' s public schools with the necessary infrastructure for schools, classrooms and users so that the students and teachers of the schools can access electronic educational services that will enable the transformation of the Galicia education system initiated within the framework of the Abalar project. In Galicia, thanks to the previous development of the Abalar Project, an important road has already been travelled, with more than 370 centres that have connections of adequate capacity, with more than 40,000 students in public centres/classrooms that had the technological means to carry out digital learning, and with the deployment of online digital educational services, which allow students and teachers to develop digital teaching/learning that takes advantage of the potentialities of the digital (breadth of information, personalization of teaching, elimination of spatial and temporal barriers, …) The objective of this operation was to extend these conditions to those centres/students that did not have them. Considering that the number of students in public schools in Galicia is approximately 260,000, in approximately 1,100 public schools, and considering that the conditions are already in place in approximately 14,000 schools (as a result of the actions of the Abalar Project - one third of the schools with network connections with appropriate capacity and more than 40,000 students in classrooms with appropriate technological means), the actions of this operation enabled 90,000 more students to access digital educational services.
